Are you in for a big challenge?

Job description

A high focus area at Epiroc is development of intelligent machines with more automation and connectivity, such as our newly developed remote controlled station “Bench Remote”. At the same time there is a high focus on energy efficiency and hybridization. This increased complexity of the control and electrical systems of our drill rigs together with high demands on uptime sets high demands on our system engineer and is why we are now looking for a dedicated electrical engineer to strengthen our electrical team.

The main focus of the work will be to select and develop the components of our basic electrical system including cabling, electrical cabinets, electrical centrals, sensors and other components to support increased automation of the drill rig. This means designing and updating component drawings and specifications, often in cooperation with our suppliers, and electric schematics. You will also be designing the architecture of the control system together with hydraulic and control system engineers.

You will work in cross functional projects together with other functions such as production, marketing, aftermarket and of course other R&D engineers. In the projects you will be the expert on the rigs electrical system representing the group. You will also work with product improvement adding functionality to present machines, improvement of the design in terms of producibility and supporting aftermarket in redesign. Developing new technologies in basic development projects will also be a part of the work. You will be working in close vicinity to the factory which means that there are great opportunities to see the end result of the projects and also to test and evaluate different solutions on actual machines during the projects.

Experience and Knowledge

We believe you have some years of professional experience within industry automation, mechatronics, electrical control systems or other highly qualified engineering background within the electrical systems.  You are used to take ideas from an initial concept to serial production, creating technical documentation and verifying technical solutions.

You have good knowledge in selecting and designing components for low voltage systems, for example cabling, fuses and relays, sensors, control units, electrical cabinets and electric centrals. Good knowledge of AutoCAD electrical, or similar CAD program, is required since components and schematics are designed in this tool. Experience of PLM systems are qualifying. You should have good command of Swedish and English, verbal and written.

Education Requirements

You should have a documented academic background within automation, mechatronics, electrics or other highly qualified engineering background within these areas.

To enjoy the work, it is important to have a genuine interest in technology and a desire to learn more about the products you are working with. It is important that you are innovative, willing to take responsibility and have the ability to work independently. Good collaboration skills are essential since work is performed in cross-functional teams. You must have a structured and analytical approach where you combine theory and practice and the ability to deliver results according to the set goals.
